Getting Started

So you're interested in piano lessons and you are ready to get started?

One of your first steps is a no-obligation completely FREE lesson.

Once we have talked and confirmed availability and scheduling, all prospective students will participate in what I like to call a "Meet and Greet" lesson.  This lesson is simply a complimentary meeting that allows me to get to know my students as well as their parents and/or guardians a little better.  We will meet at a specified time (usually the time of the student's lesson) and we will be able to see if we would be a good fit for each other.  
    If your child has never taken piano lessons before

  • This will be a time for me to evaluate your child's aptitude for the piano as well as for music theory. 
  • I may ask questions to you and your child about reasons for wanting to take piano lessons.
  • I will discuss with you the importance and benefits of practice including statistics involving students who do not practice.
  • I will explain to you some of the different events/competitions/recitals that are available to each student.
  • You will be able to ask me any questions you may have about piano lessons in my studio.

    If your child has had previous lessons or is currently taking lessons elsewhere:
  • This will be a time for me to evaluate your child's current playing level
  • Please bring the last books and/or sheet music your child was playing before this lesson.
  • I may ask questions to you and and your child about reasons for wanting to continue piano lessons.
  • I may ask questions regarding your child's previous teachers and instruction.
  • I will explain to you some of the different events/competitions/recitals that are available to each student.
  • You will be able to ask me any questions you may have about piano lessons in my studio.
